IXI-UMS Unified Messaging Server

serVonic IXI-UMS enhances SMTP-based messaging systems like Microsoft Exchange or IBM Lotus Domino with the features Fax, Voice, SMS and Mobile (remote inquiry).

The entire communication is handled with the regular e-mail system, e.g. Microsoft Outlook or IBM Lotus Notes.

The IXI-UMS Service Fax allows the sending and reception of faxes at the workstation. Incoming messages are routed to the inbox of the user as e-mail with e.g. PDF-attachment. Outgoing fax messages are created with the familiar application, processed by IXI-UMS accordingly and sent to the recipient.

The IXI-UMS Service Voice offers an individual voice box. When the user is not at his workstation, IXI-UMS automatically plays the deposited announcement, records the message and delivers it to the inbox as e-mail with WAV-file attachment.

The IXI-UMS Service SMS allows to send short messages from the workstation to mobile phones. Incoming short messages are stored in the inbox as e-mail with text in the body.

With IXI-UMS Mobile, the users can access all the messages in the inbox from on the way - by mobile phone.
The IXI-UMS software directly works together with the data bases of the respective messaging system, there is no data replication.

Unified Messaging System Hessen Corporate Network (HCN)

Customer: Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sports

Within the scope of the project HCN, the e-mail communication of approx. 50.000 employees of the Hessian state government is guaranteed in a highly available MS Exchange cluster environment. The performance range of this Exchange environment is expanded by a central unified messaging solution. Together with the contractual partner Siemens ICN, the solution IXI-UMS of the Olching-based software company serVonic was chosen. IXI-UMS seamlessly integrates in the MS Exchange cluster environment and the complex security architecture of HCN. The first stage includes the provision of fax and SMS services to the employees. At a later stage, the functionalities are to be expanded by voice mail and CTI-services. The project development, realization and operation are the task of the IT service provider of the federal state of Hesse, the Hessian central office for the data processing (HZD). IXI-UMS completely covers the demanding requirements of the entire architecture with its performance features: seamless integration in the available MS Exchange cluster environment, a Single Store architecture, support of serveral Active Directory domains, distinct flexibility and good scalability, high availability, support of the PBX's used in the federal state of Hesse: Siemens HiPath 4000, HiPath 8000.
