Judiciary costs system
The judiciary costs system JUKOS automates and simplifies the enforcement of fines and proceedings costs at the Office of the Public Prosecutor of the Berlin Senate Administration for Justice. JUKOS processes payments automatically and allocates them to the individual enforcement procedures. It calculates and controls the payment terms and, in cases of late payments, it independently carries out the necessary collection procedure. Furthermore, JUKOS provides different kinds of invoicing with automatic calculation, sorting and search functions. JUKOS has been set up with an object-oriented three-layer architecture consisting of a database, Java application server and graphic front ends on the workstation computers. The communication between the components is done either on the basis of the COBRA standard or using the Java/COM bridge from Microsoft®. It is possible to switch between the two types of communication at any time without having to retranslate the sources, by resetting one single configuration parameter.
